Agricultural Machinery Operation Control

Eliminating “idle” combine harvester runs and increasing harvesting speed by 15% without compromising quality

Background

The customer needed to gather reliable information on combine harvester operation to improve harvesting efficiency — and do so without installing additional hardware.

Project objectives

To develop an algorithm for reading data from the CAN bus without requiring a large number of auxiliary devices.

Solution

Since the combine model was relatively new, the optimal solution was to obtain operational data directly from the CAN bus.

Implementation Stages

  • Analysis of all available parameters that the combine’s CAN bus could transmit
  • Installation and configuration of the equipment
  • Setup of the monitoring platform and preparation of report templates

Result

The customer gained the ability to prevent under-filled grain tanks and eliminate “idle” runs — situations when the combine moved without the header, unloading auger, or reel engaged.

Data-driven decision-making enabled the company to increase harvesting speed by an average of 15% while maintaining product quality.
