Electronic Sealing for Tank Trucks: 100% Cargo Integrity Control and Zero Fuel Theft

08 June 2026

Why Traditional Methods of Protecting Oil Cargo Fail

Transporting petroleum products in tank trailers remains one of the most vulnerable areas of road freight when it comes to theft. Unauthorized product removal typically happens through opened hatches or drainage via standard or modified outlets, and is usually only discovered as a shortage at the end of the trip.

Phone-Based Alarm Buttons Are Not Reliable

A driver's connection to the dispatcher through ordinary phone calls is a weak link in the security chain. The driver may forget to call, fail to get through, or simply not have time to report an incident. As a result, alerts about violations arrive late — or never arrive at all.

Physical Seals Don't Provide Real Protection

Traditional seals are easy to break and replace with fakes. The presence of a seal says nothing about what actually happened to the cargo during the trip — whether the tank was opened or product was drained can only be discovered after the fact, when nothing can be done to prevent the loss.

The Solution: A Unified Multi-Sensor Security System Based on Galileosky

The goal of the project was to implement an electronic sealing system for petroleum tank semi-trailers, combining cargo integrity monitoring, driver identification, and incident response within a single architecture.

A Universal Solution for All Types of Petroleum Cargo

The solution is built on EasyLogic algorithms. It is universal for all types of petroleum cargo carried by road, from light fuels to viscous bitumen and oils, because the algorithm monitors the physical integrity of the tank itself rather than the properties of the product inside it.

The architecture is designed as a unified multi-sensor security loop. A Galileosky 7x/10 device acts as the central controller, connected to fuel level sensors, the CAN bus, and tilt sensors that monitor cargo integrity and the position of hatches or doors. RFID and BLE tags handle driver identification and local positioning within a facility. Continuously active video monitoring and light indicators provide visual control and alerts, while a panic button creates an emergency communication channel — sending an instant signal to the dispatcher instead of relying on a phone call.

Autonomous Operation Based on Geofences and EasyLogic Algorithms

The Galileosky devices store all authorized geofences in memory: loading and unloading points, parking areas, and fuel stations. The device autonomously determines whether the vehicle is within a geofence and applies the corresponding control logic, without requiring constant connection to a server. All data is processed onboard by EasyLogic algorithms, with the server only receiving events and commands. This approach keeps the system running reliably even in areas with unstable mobile coverage.

Results of Implementing the Electronic Sealing System

Implementing the electronic sealing system delivered 100% control over cargo integrity: the tank becomes inaccessible for unauthorized opening, and theft of transported petroleum products becomes impossible while the system is active.

Instant Response to Violations and a Solid Evidence Base

Any violation is recorded the moment it happens, not after the fact. The panic button sends an instant signal to the dispatcher instead of relying on an unreliable phone call. For every incident, the system builds a complete evidence base, including coordinates, timestamps, and video footage of the violation. It also provides full identification control — who was involved, when, where, and with which specific tank — completely eliminating fuel mix-ups and draining product into the wrong tank.

Economic Impact of the Implementation

The economics of the project speak for themselves. The wholesale cost of one liter of diesel fuel is roughly 60 rubles. Without an electronic sealing system, theft from a tank semi-trailer could reach 100 liters or more per trip, meaning potential losses of 6,000 rubles or more per trip. With a fleet of more than 1,700 vehicles and up to 10 trips per month per vehicle, monthly losses without the system could have run into the millions of rubles.

Implementing the electronic sealing system completely eliminated fuel theft from tanks, and the solution paid for itself within the first months of operation through prevented losses. The customer confirms 100% control over every petroleum cargo transported, from loading to delivery at the destination.
