How does a farm turn every orchard treatment into a measurable result?

Real-world experience of orchard growers shows that satellite monitoring built on Galileosky trackers records chemical and fuel consumption, checks work quality and cuts costs by up to 20%.

Why Growers Need Data-Driven Analytics

Blind Spots in Cost Accounting

An intensive orchard is a business with a delicate economy. Every sprayer run costs money: crop protection products, fuel, machine and labor hours. Without accurate data, a farm sees only the final invoices for pesticides and fuel, but not how those numbers came together. How many liters of chemical went into a specific row, at what speed the tractor moved, whether an operator missed a block — paper logs cannot answer such questions.

Machinery adds another layer of complexity. Trailed and mounted implements travel from one tractor to another, the type of field work changes through the season, and records are often kept by guesswork. Add operator payroll and production cost calculation, and it becomes clear why growers want to turn field operations into hard numbers.

Project Goal: Transparent Treatment Analytics

The growers set out to build effective analytics for orchard treatment. They needed to see the consumption of crop protection products and fuel for every machine, verify that technological operations match the set parameters — travel speed, the treated block and row — and use this data to calculate production costs and pay operators fairly.

How the Galileosky-Based Solution Works

Reports That Show Every Liter

The foundation of the system is spray rate control data, delivered by the devices to the monitoring platform. Two report types were built on top of it: a group report covering the entire fleet or all operators, and a detailed one for a specific vehicle or employee. Both display the treated area, working hours, fuel and pesticide consumption, and assess the quality of the work performed.

Beyond field operations, the platform keeps an eye on machinery: it reminds about scheduled maintenance of tractors and mounted equipment and collects service costs. Ready figures come as tables, charts and tracks, while integration with accounting and ERP systems delivers them straight to where decisions are made — no manual re-entry.

RTK Digitization: Three Thousand Rows Without Manual Mapping

Analytics are only as accurate as the digital field map behind them. In projects with a high-precision RTK receiver, row geofences were added to the monitoring platform. The scale is impressive: a 250-hectare orchard means about 3,000 rows and 50 blocks. Mapping them by hand would take painstaking weeks, so a script was developed that automatically creates geofences from vehicle tracks.

This approach shortened digitization time and improved boundary accuracy. A person only enters the blocks, crop names and quarter numbering — the system handles the rest.

Project Results

Up to 20% Savings on Crop Protection Products

The headline financial result is a 10–20% reduction in chemical consumption. Products are applied strictly at the set rate and only where needed, so money stops leaking into the inter-rows. The risk of crop damage goes down as well: the agronomist sees that every block was treated on time and according to the regulations. Routine shrinks too — the platform collects data on its own, noticeably easing the workload on staff.

Payback Within One to Two Seasons

The estimated payback period is 1–2 years. Savings begin with the very first treatments, so the investment in telematics returns quickly and keeps working for the business season after season.

Equipment for a Similar Project

Galileosky 10 at the Core

The heart of the solution is the Galileosky 10 tracker — a device with advanced functionality for monitoring, control and management of assets. Flexible settings and script support let it adapt to the needs of a particular farm: from spray rate control to automatic geofence creation.
