Galileosky helps to control the drivers’ work in the Arctic Circle

The integrator company was approached by the company, which was looking for a solution to control the security of the entire cycle of transportation of the minerals. The integrator's specialists have equipped more than 300 vehicles with the Galileosky tracking devices. Now the customer can quickly and accurately determine which driver is using a particular type of transport.

Development background

The project customer, stores oil, gas and refined products, and carries out the excavation, installation and other works. Since the company's vehicles are constantly carrying the dangerous and heavy cargo, it was necessary to monitor the quality of the drivers' work and the observance of speed limits in real time.

In addition to determining the geo-positioning of the vehicles, the clear information on fuel consumption was required. The customer wanted to get up-to-date data on all refueling stations and to know about fuel discharges, if there were any any.

Solution

The Integrator specialists have offered a solution. Galileosky tracking device collects all the vehicle data and transmits it to the Wialon software, where it can be viewed conveniently.

To keep track of which driver is now responsible for a particular vehicle, firstly, the experts have issued the identification cards to each driver. Then, the vehicles that have a tachograph, the data was transmitted directly to the inserted card via the CAN-bus. Where there is no tachograph, the readers were installed. In this way the user can see which operator worked for which period and on which vehicle in real time.

Project features

The project implementation was complicated by the fact that the customer's equipment was constantly working. The Integrator engineers were given only 2-3 hours to install the equipment, configure it and check the algorithm, after that the vehicle was back on the road. In addition, harsh weather conditions did not make the life easy either - the project was implemented in winter and spring just 60 km south from the Arctic Circle line.

Result

The customer company has received a reliable system that allows to know at any moment which driver is driving a particular vehicle, as well as to monitor the fuel consumption and control the speed mode.

Real-time monitoring. The location of all 232 vehicles in the fleet, driving style and fuel consumption are at the fingertips. Resource saving. Drivers knowing the higher level of control are more vigilant about the resources entrusted to them by the company. Reporting. The resulting analytics help in calculating the employee’s wages. Work optimization. The automation has reduced the workload of the employees responsible for drivers’ control. This process has been greatly simplified, and now it takes less time and effort.

It should be noted that сustomer company fleet was equipped with Galileosky tracking devices in 2011, so the integrator expands the tracking devices’ functionality for each new task. Previously, the integrator solved the problem of data transmission in conditions of poor network coverage
